No, we haven’t gone mad, we’re talking about the food version!

TGI Fridays has introduced mistletoe-carrying robots to its restaurants in a bid to capture diners puckering up this festive season and help people get a little closer at this time of year - ahhh!

The drones have been launched as part of the company's #Togethermas campaign, inspired after a survey found only 53% of us have actually shared a kiss under the mistletoe at Christmas time – shocking!

It’s true, many couples share a kiss in restaurants, but should you share a smooch at TGI Fridays this season you might find yourself appearing on their new ‘kiss cam’ courtesy of a device hovering overhead.

The hovering drones, controlled by restaurant employees will hover above couples carrying mistletoe to encourage an inevitable kiss before taking pictures in a bid to capture those romantic moments – this takes capturing the spirit of the season to a whole new level!

The survey behind the drones polled more than 2000 of us and found that 42% of us think Christmas is; ‘one of the most romantic times of year.’ and that 4/10 think that the office Christmas party is ‘the best place to find festive romance.’

TGI’s said they aren’t sending in the spy cam for the heck of it, they’re on a marketing mission to ‘help people get a little closer at this time of year’ and hope we’ll all pay them a visit to spread the love.

Would you want to see one flying above you while tucking into your sticky ribs this season?

So it seems an ill-fitting t shirt and jeans equal success in today’s dog eat dog world.

No we’re not talking about Simon Cowell, although he fits the bill! We’re talking about Facebook’s  CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, who when asked about his signature look: a plain ill-fitting, grey T-shirt and jeans replied; 'I feel like I'm not doing my job if I spend any energy on things that are silly or frivolous.'

This outlook it seems has a following, from President Obama donning his navy suit day in day out, to Victoria Beckham’s black assembles. We live in a world where there are so many decisions to be made - and it’s only going to get worse.

So, what if we applied the same principle to dating?

It’s true we’re all suffering from decision fatigue: from the 'swipe right or left' to choosing which party to grace this weekend - we live in a world of endless choice.

What if we do as Mark Zuckerberg and eliminate any energy spent of decisions that aren’t deemed crucial, throw caution to the wind and say yes to dates we would normally rule out based on our very specific preferences?

The internet is so effectively making our decisions for us with ‘you may also like’ and not showing us potential matches based on our preferred height or hair colour criteria that we could actually be missing out!?

The biggest risk is
not taking any risks...
In a world that's changing
really quickly, the only
strategy that is guaranteed
to fail is not taking risks
- Mark Zuckerberg

Don’t get me wrong, been asked for our preferences is a wonderful tool in lots of ways. If you want to find someone who likes the same things you do, has the same passions, or shares your love of pets etc., but how about just once turning off the filters (from height & weight to hobbies & beliefs) and give someone that you’d otherwise not even know of a chance.

You never know what might happen!

Throw in a fun fair, ferris wheel, hand bell ringers and local choirs performing by candlelight, and you’re guaranteed to get those festive feels!
Edinburgh
East Princes St Gardens | St Andrew Square | Friday 21 November – Sunday 4 January
The Scottish capital certainly knows how to put on large-scale festivals and celebrations. With the summer Fringe and New Year Hogmanay being the biggest, Edinburgh’s Christmas Markets are certainly catching up! ‘Edinburgh'sChristmas’ is a spectacular, six-week season of festive entertainment in the heart of the city, including three Christmas markets offering a massive variety of gift shopping, artistic displays, and delicious food & drink. Manchester

Manchester’s award-winning Christmas Markets offer a staggering amount of choice. Spread across the city centre (within a quarter of a mile of each other), no less than 9 markets will be open daily. 300 stalls will sell everything from handcrafted leather bags and top-quality bonsai trees, to handmade Belgian kitchenware, framed photo prints and French soaps. Be sure to sample the dazzling array of food & drink, and why not treat your date to a traditional bratwurst, Hungarian goulash, Spanish paella or a good old-fashioned hog roast… nom!

Bath
Abbey Churchyard | York Street | Bath Street | Thursday 27 November – Sunday 14 December

What could be more romantic than a yuletide stroll through the heart of Bath’s elegant Georgian streets, hand-in-hand with that special someone? Set against the backdrop of the glorious Abbey,
Bath Christmas Market features 170 traditional wooden chalets offering handmade gifts, decorations, food, toys and festive tipples! With a distinctively British theme and an emphasis on local traders, this market is perfect for creating unforgettable Christmas memories…

London
Locations across the capital | Mid-Late November – Early January

Traditional Christmas Markets have been running across the regional city centres for a number of years, but in London they are still fairly limited. Whilst you can enjoy quaint wooden chalets serving festive food, drink and crafts at The SouthbankCentre Christmas Market, for example, we’d suggest experiencing one of the more extravagant events in the capital. A festive family favourite is Hyde Park’s WinterWonderland, which is certain to bring out the big kid in you! Featuring carousels, funhouses and big top shows, along with a giant observation wheel, ice rink and Magical Ice Kingdom, this is a Christmas market with added excitement… not to be missed!

A recent survey revealed a whopping 66 percent of single pet owners wouldn’t date someone who didn’t like pets. Over 1,000 single people were asked about their dating deal breakers as part of the survey to unveil the truth about our beloved cats and dogs - and their dating pros and cons.

Have you ever come across the perfect profile but then reading their profile you discover they don’t like cats? Or been instantly put off by a profile pic of someone smooching their dog? - for many of us these would be dating deal breakers.

As we suspected our furry friends are pretty important when it comes to who we date - almost half of those asked revealed to putting their complete faith in their dog's judgement of their dates!
Here are a few other eye-opening results about the guys:
  • Men are almost 4 times more likely to use their pet to attract a potential date (22% vs. 6% of women)
  • Nearly six out of 10 men think their date's choice in pets says a lot about their personality
  • Only 30% of men judge their date based on how their pet reacts to their date
Here are a few other eye-opening results about the girls:
  • 35% of single women have been more attracted to someone because of their pet – we can see why John Legend
  • 27% of women find photos of pets in an online dating profile a turn-off
  • 48% judge their date based on how their pet reacts to them
Things get a little hairy too when it comes to mixing dog people with cat people. While those who fancy felines are much more open to the idea - 97 percent of cat owners would have a relationship with a "dog person" but just 66 percent of dog owners would be open to dating a cat person – ouch!

So with 4 of out 5 singles being pet lovers maybe it’s time to visit the local shelter???
