Do you like owls? Because we know a cracking owl sanctuary!*

The lively East Anglian metropolis has a vibrant collection of restaurants, bars, annual events and historical and cultural hotspots – plenty to do and plenty to see. Here’s our selection of date locations to try out in the ‘Fine City’…

Frank's Bar
Frank’s Bar
This amiable little bar/restaurant/chill spot has everything you need for a stable first date foundation. It boasts a brilliantly vibrant food and drinks menu – a perfect talking point if and when the conversation goes stale. Not that it will, but when in doubt, talk about food – everyone loves talking about food! We should start charging for these priceless dating tips… Their brand new spring menu features the likes of roasted vegetable and feta pie, and the introduction of a moreish tapas selection. That’ll do, Frank’s Bar. That’ll do!

Arguably Norwich’s most famous landmark – you can’t really miss it either. If you’re not a self-proclaimed conversationalist we’re guessing you’ll need a few talking points to avoid the dreaded awkward silence. Well, the castle definitely isn’t short of them! If it’s not going according to plan, we wouldn’t frown at you for leaving your date in the dungeon – it’s quite cosy down there to be honest.

The River Wensum City Walk
For the romantics, the dreamy-eyed and the artistically aware – a quiet stroll down the Wensum River to discuss the meaning of life. Unless it’s raining, then we’d suggest finding a nice pub or bar to sit in instead, there are plenty of them by the river! A bit of rain could add to the romance however, it worked in The Notebook, Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Sweet Home Alabama, etc…

Theatre Royal, Norwich.

Theatre Royal
There’s nothing wrong with a traditional approach to dating, so why not go for the classic dinner and a show?! It’s a classy move for a first date – good food, good drink and an entertaining distraction if your run through of your extensive knowledge of Judy Garland musicals hits a bum note with your date… Keep that sort of embarrassing personality quirk to yourself for as long as possible.

Banham Zoo

Animals are adorable, aren’t they? What better place to look at some adorable animals than a zoo? And what better way to show how adorable you are for liking adorable animals than by taking your date to see said adorable animals?! Take it from us; you can’t go wrong with having a date at a zoo. Unless the friendly resident llamas decide to spit at you both – at least it’d be a handy ice-breaker.

We love a good county show in Britain, don’t we? The Royal Norfolk Show is an annual extravaganza of food, drink, agriculture, (adorable) animals and a whole bunch of tractors. It's the pride of joy of Norfolk and a unique setting for a memorable date. A cheap one as well – free samples as far as the eye can see! There’s no shame in going for the economic approach, no shame at all.

Another good ‘un if you enjoy a quirky cultural outing. With contemporary and varied live performances, a vibrant beer garden by the river and a miniature cityscape stuck to the ceiling of the bar, The Playhouse definitely isn’t your standard inner city bar and theatre!

One of the most notable university art galleries in Britain, with some of the most notable global works too. Take your date on a day trip the Sainsbury’s Centre and you’ll appear all of the below: intellectual, artistically troubled/sensitive and highly cultured. You’ll be drawing each other like one of Jack Dawson’s French girls in no time! Oh and don’t forget your black turtle neck and rimless glasses – dress to impress!

With the glorious weather we’re experiencing comes the perfect opportunity to take your date on an idyllic cruise through the winding Norfolk Broads. Pack a picnic, hire a boat and meander until both of your hearts are content.

Norwich Market

And last, but by no means least, Norwich Market! For the ultimate blue-collar first date experience, treat the apple of your eye to a wander through the many stalls of animal food suppliers, second hand home appliances, the worst and best of 1980s and 1990s fashion and the finest hog roast stall in Norfolk: Henry’s Hog Roast. It’s a risky move, but a date in this entertaining little pocket of the city will definitely not be a boring one!

We’ve done the homework, now it’s your turn to put in the leg work! With a wealth of Norwich date ideas at your disposal, it’s time to find your ideal date with Flirtify

We’ll wink to that!

A recent study has revealed that singles who use emojis have more sex!

The study which polled more than 5,600 single people revealed that fans of the emoji are more likely to have sex than their none emoji loving counterparts. 54% of emoji users reported having sex in 2014, compared to 31% of singles who abstained from using them what so ever.

% of singles who had sex at least monthly in 2014

But why?

Well we have a theory… we’ve all experienced this situation when you’re communicating with someone new, its playful, intense and you want to let them know you like them, but it’s notoriously difficult to get any of this across by simply reading the tone of texts and emails. Often things can be interpreted wrong and you’re left not knowing how each other is feeling at all.

Texting and emails can jeopardize emotion, cutting out any subtle inflection of your voice that you may have had; a cheeky smile and playful exchanges of contact. This is where emoji’s come in… they successfully bridge the gap between technology and personality allowing us to express emotions in our messages.

The facts…

Approximately 50% of men and women agree that emojis 'show personality' and 35% said they make 'expressing feelings' much more easy… the results speak for themselves!
Have you updated your phone recently – there are A LOT more to choose from!  So which are the more popular…?

The ‘WINK’ is the most widely used emoji…

...and it’s men who are more likely to interject their messages with 'kiss' and 'heart eyes' emojis - women prefer 'smileys'.

What's more...

While emojis may be great to create a bit of cheekiness into the conversation, sexting and selfies did not fare as well — if you're a man talking to a woman that is! 77% of ladies said they do not want to receive a 'sext' from a date and 48% are not interested in your selfies guys, no matter how dapper you look!

It's not just about what happens between the sheets either, emoji users are twice as likely to want to marry one day (62%) - or perhaps they're just better at expressing themselves? Good thing there’s an appropriate diamond available for your inevitable Facebook engagement announcement!

If you still feel a little lost take a look below at what all those emoji’s mean – some will surprise you...

So with all this in mind, it just became MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER to...

1. update your phone with a new selection of emoji's
2. find someone at Flirtify to start communicating with

But with so many potential dates communicating online, is there a knack to creating the perfect profile?

A recent study suggests so and has revealed a couple of things you can do to better your chances online… researchers at Queen Mary University in London have found that using a playful screen name beginning with a letter near the start of the alphabet, counts for (wait for it)… just as much as an attractive photo!

The study also revealed women are most attracted to names who give the impression of intelligence such as ‘Cultured’ whilst men respond to names more that suggest a more physical appearance like ‘Blondie’ or ‘Cute’.

Although they advise steering clear of words like ‘Little’ or ‘Bug’ as these are often linked with being inferior and passive resulting in less attention and interest. Instead light-hearted screen names, such as ‘GoodFun11’, are seen to be much more likely to result in messages and that all-important date.

So what about beyond the screen name?

Are there any words and phrases we should be using to make ourselves more attractive to the opposite sex online…

A different study revealed that including your hobbies is a great idea and helps the prospective dates get to know you a little better (it’s also a great way for you to see if they’ve taken the time to read your profile when you receive an ice breaker too). Some interests are more appealing though, words such as; ‘skiing’, ‘yoga’ and ‘the ocean’ help men get dates; whilst ‘running’ and ‘dance’ help women.

So that’s hobbies, what about interests…

If you The Great Gatsby, Pulp Fiction and Homeland then DO mention it, liking any of these popular films is a plus point but DON’T fib. The last thing you want is for your date to ask what you thought when Brody was interrogated by Peter Quinn and you to reply with a shocked 'WHO?'

Girls, females, ladies – it’s a minefield!

Guys who refer to the opposite sex as ‘females’ or ‘women’ rather than ‘girls’ are unsurprisingly more likely to find a date, as are men who use the word ‘whom’.

And pets…

There is a lot more to consider when it comes to introducing your beloved pet online – things can get hairy, pardon the expression! But if you insist on including your furry friend try using ‘cats’ not ‘my cats’ and when it comes to dogs use ‘my dog’ rather than naming them directly.

Here are some additional must know tips… Use a photo

Profiles with pictures receive 16 times more responses than those without. Update your photo depending on the season but avoid the flash – research shows they age us by 7 whole years OUCH!

Look at the camera

...but only if you’re a woman. Women who look directly into the camera for their profile picture receive far more responses than women who look away. But for men it’s the other way around – we don’t know why but we will find out!

Include your more sociable interests

...not that you like your own space and once did a four day Homeland marathon (good interest but a bad way to mention it!). Let people know what you like to do so they can imagine themselves being a part of your life too.

Be upbeat profile

Imagine you're talking to someone who you like who you want to like you too, someone who you’ve just met and would like to meet again.

Don’t be afraid of the emoji

Smiley face emojis work well – apparently that well that people who use them have more sex! More to come on this later in the week.

Ok so Pulp Fiction, women, Foo Fighters, fun, happy, cutie, running (if you don’t already go buy some trainers immediately), yoga and no flash photography – GOT IT!

Give yourself the edge now with Flirtify! GO GO GO!
