I don’t know about you but I still laugh like each joke is entirely new, I always find myself smiling when I hear the words ‘I’ll be there for you….’ and I would happily watch TV repeats all day long.

Friends taught us so much, especially when it came to their confusing, emotional, life-altering, hilarious and realistic situations. Here are a few of our favourite life lessons…

A Break’ vs ‘Break Up’*

*We’d like to take this opportunity to say we still don’t know who we completely agree with.

When Rachel told Ross she thought they should go on a break in season 3, Ross hooks up with ‘the girl from the copy place’. This is a lesson in communication, let us help:
Break – means a brief breather from one another (but your commitment still stands).
Break Up – it’s over.
Proposing, marriage and children are scary and emotional

Since it’s typically the man’s role to propose, us ladies aren’t always aware of what’s happening until it’s actually happening and as Monica points out ‘There’s a reason girls don’t do this!’

But ladies this is a true lesson in perspective, and the modern day - understand this is a scary time and your partner is putting their heart and everything they know on the line…. put him out of his misery and yes right away, if that is your answer.
Sometimes the right person is there all along

Monica and Chandler got all way through to season 4 without a second glance at each other, queue Ross and Emily’s wedding. They become this couple that you can’t imagine without one another. Sometimes, the right one is already in your life, you just need to take a look around for a second and think. Do it!
Long term

Are you going the same way, because if you’re not it could spell the end. Phoebe was head over heels when she broke up with Mike in season 9 – we were also devastated! The reason was he was jaded from a previous marriage and didn’t ever want to go through or risk going through it again, whereas Phoebe knew she wanted to marry one day. She understood their goals didn’t align and knew she wouldn’t be happy – sad.
But, thank goodness events gave them both perspective and Mike a chance to realise their relationship was different. They eventually marry in season 10 – we need a tissue!
Timing is everything

Ross and Rachel, Rachel and Ross...

… just how many times did they get together and break up, consider something more then decide on being friends? Countless! Between season 3 and 10, they never got together officially for more than a coffee to go (unless of course you count the super-quick reunion after Bonnie shaved her head in season 4, or the drunken ‘I do’ in Vegas in season 6). Sometimes, the right person is there at just the wrong time, but if you see it through it could all work out and she could get off the plane to London!

One final thing… if they’re your lobster, it will all come good in the end.

As the nation’s love affair with the Great British Bake Off continues it’s got us wondering about the pros of dating a baker - so much so that we decided to make a list… so should this opportunity arise you’ll know just what to say.

Free tastings
We’re sold already!

By far the best reason to date a baker – free cake and delicious baked goods as well as positioning yourself as the supportive partner more than willing to help them with their work. WIN! WIN!
They’re creative

Need we say more…?

They have excellent taste
All those ingredients and perfectly balanced flavours can leave bakers with a pretty impressive palate. So when it comes to choosing the restaurant we recommend leaving it to them!
Heavy lifting
If you have ever whisked a cake you’ll know it’s hard work! All that whisking, whipping, lifting and stirring can mean some well-risen muscles hidden under those unsuspecting aprons – trust us we’ve looked!

Your family will love them
Stand aside firefighters, police officers and teachers you’re impressive, but what family member doesn’t love a baker? Their skills are certain to impress.

They love a list
Working to a specific recipe means that they can take instructions, won’t forget things at the shops and they think methodically. My hero!

They are team players

Most of the time – but we will say no more on the matter.

Occasions
Occasions will never be forgotten because it’ an opportunity for them to show off their amazing showstoppers – roll on birthdays, anniversaries of any kind, Christmas and valentines. You’ll be able to rely on them to prioritise tasks and plan things perfectly.
They’ll bring their job home

Usually a bad thing but not if they’re a baker! Forks at the ready, because after all you’re their chief taste tester!

They’ll have a sense of humour
All those novelty showstoppers come from the playful masterminds of some very cheeky bakers.
Anything but perfection won’t do. From a croquembouche to a simple goat cheese and caramelised onion bread roll (simple to them we might add!), bakers wouldn’t dream of serving up anything less than exceptional so you’ll always have the best.

So what do you say if a baker asked you on a date? YES!

“Any swipe could change your life” – if by ‘change your life’ Tinder actually means, ‘scar you for life’ then we’d be more inclined to say their tagline was true!

Renowned for its fast-food styled approach to dating, Tinder has provided many a user with some interesting first exchanges with potential suitors – some harmlessly cheesy, others grossly offensive/misogynistic/racist and others… well, just downright strange.

If you need any more convincing to start avoiding free dating apps, the following pictures of Tinder’s finest should do the trick! Our friends over at The Debrief have put together an entertaining blog featuring some of the more hilarious messages.

Try your best not to get too hot under the collar when reading through these fine examples of romantic Shakespearian prose…

 Everyone loves a bad boy!

At least he's showing some creativity...

Personal hygiene is a very nice quality in a man - that's a tick for Sam!

Right... strangest one so far!

LOL. Farts.

P.S. We suggest you stay clear of these chat up lines. Funnily enough, they don’t work very well…
